HONORING THE SEASON YOU’RE IN

Woman in flowing purple dress walks down autumn road toward sunset.

Here we are in October.

There’s something about this time of year that invites us to notice change. The air begins to shift. The days feel different. Leaves that were once green begin to change color and eventually release from the branches that held them.

Nature seems to understand something that we, as women, sometimes struggle to embrace:

Every season is not meant to last forever and maybe that’s something you need to hear today.

As women, we move through many seasons—sometimes gracefully, sometimes reluctantly, and sometimes without realizing that a season has changed until we find ourselves standing in unfamiliar territory.

There are seasons when we are planting—working, praying, building, nurturing, and believing without seeing much evidence that anything is happening.

There are seasons of waiting, when life seems quieter than we expected and the answers we desperately want haven’t arrived.

There are seasons of harvest, when something we’ve prayed for, worked toward, or faithfully tended finally begins producing fruit.

And then there are seasons of release.

Those can be some of the hardest.

Because releasing isn’t always about losing something bad. Sometimes we have to release something that was once good, meaningful, or necessary simply because it belonged to a different season of our lives.

A role.

A relationship.

An expectation.

A version of ourselves.

A dream that needs to look different now.

A responsibility we’ve carried far longer than we were meant to.

October reminds us that letting go doesn’t always mean something went wrong.

Sometimes, letting go is part of growing.

WHAT SEASON ARE YOU IN?

Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us:

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”

That truth gives us permission to stop comparing our season with someone else’s.

One woman may be building while another is resting.

One may be celebrating while another is grieving.

One may be starting over while another is finally seeing the results of years of perseverance.

One may be discovering who she is outside of motherhood, marriage, a career, caregiving, or expectations she has carried for years.

Another may simply be trying to figure out what comes next.

None of these seasons makes one woman more successful, more spiritual, or more valuable than another.

Your responsibility is not to force yourself into someone else’s season.

It is to become present in your own.

SOME SEASONS DON’T LOOK PRODUCTIVE

This can be especially difficult for women who are accustomed to doing, helping, producing, fixing, and carrying.

We can become so focused on asking, “What am I accomplishing?” that we forget to ask, “What is happening within me?”

Maybe this isn’t your season to produce more.

Maybe it’s your season to heal.

To establish boundaries.

To rediscover your voice.

To rest without feeling guilty.

To grieve something you never gave yourself permission to grieve.

To begin again.

To become comfortable saying no.

To nurture something privately before sharing it publicly.

Or simply to sit long enough to hear what your heart has been trying to tell you.

Not every meaningful season produces something everyone else can see.

Some of our greatest growth happens underground.

Think about a seed. Before anything beautiful appears above the soil, something important is happening beneath it. Roots are forming. The foundation is becoming stronger. Growth is taking place even though no one can see it yet.

The same can be true for us. Just because others cannot see your progress doesn’t mean you aren’t growing.

THERE IS WISDOM IN RELEASE

Look at the trees in October.

They don’t spend the season apologizing for what they’re releasing.

They simply respond to the season.

What would happen if we gave ourselves permission to do the same?

Maybe the question isn’t only, “What do I want next?”

Maybe we also need to ask:

“What am I carrying that no longer belongs in this season of my life?”

Sometimes moving forward requires more than adding something new. It requires making room.

And making room may mean releasing old expectations, outdated definitions of success, unhealthy relationships, unrealistic timelines, or versions of ourselves created primarily to meet everyone else’s needs.

There is courage in beginning. But there is also tremendous courage in knowing when something has completed its purpose.

THERE ARE SEASONS OF HARVEST, TOO

While October reminds us of release, it also reminds us of harvest.

Some of you have spent a long time planting seeds.

You’ve prayed.

You’ve worked.

You’ve sacrificed.

You’ve learned.

You’ve started over.

You’ve remained faithful when there was little evidence that what you were doing was making a difference.

Perhaps this season isn’t asking you to work harder.

Perhaps it’s asking you to stop long enough to recognize what has grown.

Sometimes we become so focused on the next goal that we forget to celebrate the prayers that have already been answered.

Look around.

There may be fruit in your life today that you once prayed for.

Give yourself permission to acknowledge it.

Give thanks for it.

Celebrate it.

Harvest is also part of the journey.

YOUR SEASON CAN CHANGE WITHOUT YOU LOSING YOURSELF

Genesis 8:22 speaks of the continuing rhythms of seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter.

Seasons change and so do we.

The woman you were five years ago may not be the woman you are today—and she doesn’t have to be.

You can honor who she was.

You can appreciate what she survived.

You can celebrate what she accomplished.

You can learn from what she experienced.

And you can still give yourself permission to become the woman you’re growing into now.

That’s part of living organically.

Growth isn’t always linear.

It doesn’t always happen according to our timeline.

Sometimes we bloom.

Sometimes we plant.

Sometimes we prune.

Sometimes we rest.

Sometimes we release.

Sometimes we harvest.

And sometimes we simply trust that something is happening even when we cannot see it yet.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO NAVIGATE YOUR SEASON ALONE

Change can be beautiful, but that doesn’t mean it’s always easy.

Sometimes we recognize that a season has ended but aren’t sure how to move forward.

Sometimes we know something needs to change, but we need clarity about what that change should look like.

Sometimes we’ve been taking care of everyone else for so long that we’re no longer sure what we need.

And sometimes we simply need a safe space to sort through where we’ve been, where we are, and where we want to go next.

That’s where support can make a difference.

If you’re navigating a season of transition, rediscovering yourself, working through change, or simply feeling ready for something different, Organically Speaking is here to support you.

Visit the front page of our website and complete the Assessment tab.

Take a few moments to tell us where you are, what you’re experiencing, and the areas where you would like support. Once we receive your assessment, someone from our team will get back to you to discuss how we can support you as you move forward.

You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out.

Sometimes the first step is simply acknowledging:

“I’m ready for something to change, and I could use some support getting there.”

Whatever season you’re in—planting, waiting, healing, rebuilding, releasing, rediscovering, or harvesting—we want to help you navigate it with greater clarity, intention, and confidence.

ORGANICALLY SPEAKING…

Here we are in October.

Before rushing into another month, another goal, another responsibility, or another version of what you think you should be doing, take a moment to recognize the season you’re actually in.

Ask yourself:

What is growing in me?

What am I being invited to release?

What deserves to be harvested and celebrated?

What needs more time?

What have I been trying to force that may simply require patience?

What do I need in this season?

And who am I becoming?

You don’t have to rush your season.

You don’t have to explain it.

And you certainly don’t have to compare it.

Honor it.

Learn from it.

Grow through it.

And trust that when the season changes—as seasons always do—you will carry forward the wisdom this one came to teach you.

Organically Speaking… every season brings an opportunity to grow.

The question is: What is this season asking of you?
